4th of July Whirlwind!

Our weekend started early Saturday morning! We loaded up and headed to a little town outside of Idaho Falls, called Ririe. Travis’ cousin’s daughter was getting married. The wedding was on a working ranch with all these cute cabins and ponds. It sure was fun visiting family we have not seen in awhile.

We left the house about 830 that morning. (It’s about a 5 hour drive away.) The wedding ceremony (so adorable) started about 430 with dinner and reception following. The plan was to stay late and visit as much as possible. We even stopped by Econolodge of Snake River in Idaho Falls and asked if we could check in early and get keys so that we could just go to our rooms when we finally left the wedding. Hmmmm, well that was the plan!

We did get keys for the room but of course did not visit it because it was not prepared yet they said. It was early! There check-in time is after 3. So fast forward to about 730. The ceremony was such an understated sophisticated country chic, it was adorable. Good job ladies and gentlemen! (Love the family bar makeovers of the bar that Uncle Larry made!) Unfortunately Travis’s legs were swelling pretty bad and he was hurting so we decided to go to the hotel. (note to self; take a leg prop break in the afternoon for long days!)

HOLY MOLLY!!! At first glance getting in the room everything looked pretty normal. 2 beds, chair, desk and bathroom. (The bath was NOT accessible.) We did request an accessible room on our booking. No polite words! Anyhow we make things work and he could get to the toilet so we were going to stay, until we turned on a couple more lights and started to place things. The beds were not cleaned! (Had to pull back the bedspread to see that!) It was quite obvious the sheets were used and then the spots on the bedspreads were noticed but the real kicker, or straw that broke the camels back as they say, was the mysterious puddle on the floor! I took a video of the condition of the room and we toted our stuff right back to the car!

After a 10 minute wait in the office (trying not to make a scene) for other customers to be helped first, I explained the situation to the clerk. After being informed she took all these ‘notes’ down, she explained I would have to call Monday to have this resolved. (To get my money back.) Night manager came in about then and she thought he might be able to help me more.  Turned out she was more help! This night manager had only one goal…keep the money. I was informed that they have a cancellation policy that prevents him from reimbursing me. I think the concept that we did not cancel but found the product unsatisfactory was too much for him, so over his head we go…..

Back in the car we go! Travis propped his legs up and I took the wheel. A couple stops later we pulled back into our (until the 30th) driveway about 130 in the morning July 4th.

Time for sleeping in and a little puttering before the BBQ at Jack and Erin’s.

Great Friends! Great Food! GREAT Fireworks! Happy Fourth of July!!!
